The popularity of wedding cruises has increased a lot within thelast few years. Just five years ago they were virtually non-existant, yet today, there are literally hundreds of them each year. And many of them come with a honeymoon included...naturally.

The increasing popularity of wedding cruises should not be surprising. The gap between the church service to getting away together tested plenty of couples who just couldn't wait to take off. On a cruise ship,, as soon as the ceremony concludes, you simply sailing away into the sunset on your honeymoon.

Many cruise lines are offering wedding cruises. American Hawaii, Celebrity, Pricess, Norwegian, Premier, Cape Carnival and Royal Caribbean International are only a few of them. There are wedding cruise packages available for all destinations. However, in most cases there is a catch... you need to bring along your own clergyman.

The wedding ceremony can take place either onboard, in a public room on the cruise ship, or onshore in a romantic setting. I guess it depends where you're travelling but a beach wedding is very popular. My preference is definitely under a palm tree! The Grand Princess has a wedding chapel onboard and the ship captain has the authority to marry you offshore. RCCI's Voyager of the Seas also has a wedding chapel, but you have to get married while in port. Many couples choose to get married in a Caribbean port or before the cruise begins, so that the guests can stay and party and disembark before the ship sales.

With the increasing popularity of having a special wedding, many independent wedding planners are now offering wedding cruises as well. The price for a cruise wedding ranges from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars. To select the best package within your price range, you have to consult with a wedding planner, a travel agent or someone from the cruise line's wedding department. There are a lot of options you can choose from.
