Cruise Holiday - How To Make The Most Of Your Next Cruise Holiday!

What was once available only for the rich, a cruise holiday was a beautiful dream for some of us romantics or average folk. Through the years the demand and popularity grew to such an immense size, with it so did the cruise industry.

Today there are several options for cruise holidays to suit every budget and style. There are particular cruise lines that target certain types of travelers. Your destination, length of travel, amenities requested, as well as amount of luxury that is important to you will determine the cruise line that is best. Let us explore what they have to offer and which would be the perfect fit for you.

Your Ideal Cruise Holiday

Going on a cruise could be the ideal holiday for you for various reasons, but the one specifically that most can agree on, is they are generally “all inclusive”. This means that you can book your cruise holiday with a travel agent or over the internet, and what you’re paying for is the whole package!

The only things that could cost you extra are your trips to and from the harbor to begin, any rendezvous you take while at port, or extra trips to the bar. A cruise holiday can last anywhere from one day to as many as you would like or can afford, however, I suggest a seven-day cruise as being ideal.

A week cruise offers you at least three different ports of call, sometimes four. Usually the first and the last day are saved for sailing to get to and from the destination point.

Seven Day Cruise Holiday

On a typical seven-day cruise you will have two formal nights, almost always held on the days spent at sea. The first formal night as a rule is the day after you embark on your holiday and is known as the ‘welcome aboard’. Here you will get to meet the captain and crew members of the ship and even take pictures with them if you choose.

Then you would arrive at your first port of call where you’ll have anywhere from three to twelve hours or more to explore the place you docked at. If you’re cruising primarily with the idea of several shorter stops you will have more time, but if you are on a cruise set for one main destination, then your time will be shorter.

Most cruise lines will equip you with different coupons or maps with tips on how to navigate your new destination, and where to find the most interesting things. The second formal night is generally held on the last sea day and is known as the ‘farewell’. Here too, formal attire is expected and lavish dinners such as lobster will be served.

Everything is included in a cruise holiday – the boarding, dining, and entertainment. You will pack and unpack only once and yet get to visit several different places! No need to worry about driving or commuting unless you plan to detour away from the docks, as every evening the ship will sail away from one port to get you to another by the next morning.

What's Your Cruise Holiday Preference?

As mentioned before, there is a cruise line for every taste and budget. Due to the fact that a vast number of people of all ages turn to cruising every year, the cruise industry expanded to include several different selections to fit each category and fulfill your proper expectations.

There are more family oriented cruises like Disney or Carnival, mid-budget cruises such as Royal Caribbean, or exotic cruises like Crystal or Silverseas. Of course prices differ vastly between each cruise line, destination, and time of year.

If you live somewhere near the ocean, in Florida, Texas, etc, you may find that there are lots of different dinner cruises, or casino cruises that you could take with your friends for a few hours or maybe overnight. These types of adventures can also be offered on larger lakes or rivers.

A cruise holiday has become popular not only because of its romantic appeal, but also because it is very practical and can also be economical. When planning your next vacation, explore the idea of a cruise holiday, there’s no doubt that there’s something for everyone!
